Project Title
Completed in: November 2024

Background
Joyland 24' was developed to enhance the festival experience by providing attendees with a centralized platform to access event schedules, artist information, and venue details. The app’s primary goal was to streamline the user experience, ensuring festival-goers could navigate the event with ease. In addition to essential event information, features such as ticket management and integrated map navigation were included to address common challenges faced by attendees, like tracking performances and locating venues. The app caters to both regular festival attendees and first-timers, ensuring everyone can enjoy a seamless and immersive Joyland experience.
Research
The research phase involved analyzing existing event apps to identify strengths and gaps in how they present information and guide users. Competitor analysis highlighted key features, such as intuitive navigation and ticket management systems, which were crucial for the app's functionality. User surveys with festival attendees revealed common pain points, such as difficulty keeping track of schedules and navigating large event spaces. These insights shaped the app's core features, including a map integration for real-time navigation, categorized artist schedules, and an information page with detailed guidelines.
Wireframing
The wireframing process focused on creating a clean and intuitive user flow that addressed user needs. Key pages, such as the main page, day information page, venue page, and general information page, were prioritized to ensure quick access to vital features. Wireframes also helped define the layout of the event schedule and map navigation, emphasizing simplicity and ease of use. Early iterations eliminated unnecessary complexities, streamlining the user journey and creating a cohesive flow across all sections of the app.

Prototype
Prototyping brought the app’s visual identity and interactivity to life. Tools like Adobe XD were used to design a consistent and engaging interface, ensuring that every element aligned with the vibrant Joyland theme.

Usability Testing
User testing was conducted with a other students provding critiques over the design so that I could gather feedback on usability and functionality. Insights from these sessions led to significant improvements, particularly in the design of the tickets page and the navigation system. For example, feedback prompted the addition of quick access buttons for the ticket purchasing portal and a simplified layout for the day information page.
Final Design
The final design captures the vibrant essence of Joyland while maintaining a user-friendly interface. The app integrates all key features cohesively, with the home screen serving as a central hub for quick access to schedules, maps, and ticket information. The map navigation system is intuitive, helping users locate venues effortlessly, while the tickets page provides secure storage for QR codes and easy ticket management. The overall design reflects the festival’s energetic and lively spirit, ensuring users feel connected to the event through a seamless and engaging experience.

Reflection
This project was a rewarding experience, combining user-centric design with functional innovation. While the app achieved its goal of streamlining the festival experience, there are still areas for improvement, such as further refining the layout of the tickets page to enhance design harmony. User feedback played a critical role in shaping the app, and additional testing could help identify further opportunities to enhance usability. Overall, "Joyland 24’" successfully addresses the needs of festival-goers, and I am excited about its potential to be implemented as a complete event management solution.
